Injunction and Restraining Orders

An injunction is a court order that restrains a person from engaging in an action threatening an individual’s safety, usually ordered in domestic violence cases. Any person who feels that their life is in imminent danger or that their safety is at risk has the right to file for a court ordered injunction.

It is important to note, that a current case or legal proceeding does not have to have a verdict in order for a petition for an injunction to be granted. A petitioner may file for an injunction if the petitioner fears for their life or if they are a victim of domestic violence.
